She lives in Finland but is studying translation and can speak a million different languages and is almost always on the move. I love her blog because it is always so thoughtful and funny and oddly moving at times.
Oh yeah, I ran the Bath Half marathon at the weekend - came in at a respectable 2 hours 15 minutes. I like to think that’s not bad seeing as had never run for more than 20 minutes before I started my training!
I just watched ‘Howl’ with James Franco playing Allan Ginsberg. The film wasn’t ground-breaking (even the opening credits left me thinking it was destined for obscurity) but it did remind how inspiring I find the Beats. I read ‘On the Road’ a few years ago, and again when I was actually on a road trip in the US and it blew my mind each time.
Lines like this:
"…because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn."
I identify with the energy of these writers, their insatiable desire to experience everything, their exuberance and general craziness.
The ideas in the film made me think of one of the quotes I have on my wall:
"The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time."

I love it - the design is great, the photography is beautiful and it is using technology to bring people together and to inspire us in our day-to-day lives.
